Multi V Haul Off Belt Sizes

The majority of plastic extrusion Haul Off Puller units use Multi V type belts with either a J  ( PJ ) 2.34mm width rib pitch or L ( PL ) 4.7mm width rib pitch to the underside

J & L being the imperial inch reference and PJ & PL being the metric mm reference

The designated length of the belt is the pitch length where the reinforcement cord runs in the centre of the belt

A popular size of Haul Off Belt could be referred to as 635 L 24 ( 63.5" long with 24 ribs 4.7mm pitch ) In imperial  or 1613 PL 24 ( 1613mm long ) in metric

Machines where the manufacturers make and model numbers are present can normally be cross referenced to determine the correct belt length and width, machines which have been reconditioned often do not carry this information and manual measurement is required,

WITH THE MACHINE OUT OF PRODUCTION AND ISOLATED FROM THE POWER SUPPLY AND IT IS SAFE TO DO SO

Count the ribs to the underside of the belt and measure the width to determine if the belt is 2.34mm or 4.7mm pitch and the number of ribs required,

If the belts are fitted to the machine measure the pulley centre distance and pulley diameter, the belt length is 2 x pulley centre distance + 1 x pulley circumference ( diameter x 3.142 )

Make a note of how much adjustment has been taken up on the idler pulley belt tensioning screws, if the belt is at full adjustment, the next size down may be required

Please note , not all machines use the same size belt on both booms,

If you measure around the outside of the belt with a flexible tape, a note of the covering material thickness will be required to work out the pitch length of the belt,

Some small Haul Off units use timing belts which will require detailed measurement to identify the pitch and tooth form

Imperial H section 1/2" black rubber belts are most popular but many variants are used, including

 Imperial L / H / XH

Metric rubber HTD 3M / 5M / 8M / 14M

Metric Polyurethane T5 / T10 / AT5 / AT10 / AT20
